This week is the first week in production, we have managed to start the actual filming of our short film about two stoners who go on a journey when they intoxicated with drugs, this a comedy and we events which the target audience can relate to. As the week past we managed to do a lot of filming as on the days which me and my partner, we had enough time to complete the filming which needed to be, i can happily say that we have around 5% of filming left this will easily be done by beginning of next, by having the majority of the filming done we could get on with the editing which means having time on our hands to film any other shots that we really did not like.
Challenges which we faced during production was that that one of the leading actors broke his ankle, which meant him not coming as we needed someone who could run as we had a intense running scene, this meant us having to look for a new actor immediately. This was a big issue due to the fact that no one was available or prepared for acting and most of our friends were revising for the exam which were more important to them. However we overcame this situation by asking a friend if they could be in it or they know someone who could be in it, luckily our friend know someone who would act in our short film, we then contacted them and arranged a date, we had to slightly change the schedule but it didn't really matter as we still could film it by the end of production date.
Next week we hope to start uploading the footage on to the Imacs and then edit it using the final cut x software. The is to put the all the scenes in following the script and also go through each clip as we re-done the some shots, we then need to make a firm decision on which clip to keep, these are tough decision which the editor and director need to make together. While we edit, we also need to filming the remainder of our film, this will be done on the first day next week.
Before production stage we all gathered together gone over the shot list and what the main purpose of the day was and clearly making sure that the characters had to do. To make sure that our actors are confident for filming, we printed them off a script to make sure they get to know the script. Before we even filmed we told them the plot of the short film, that allowed them to know what the whole short film was about and what it was going to portray,
The cast and crew’s performance on the day was overall excellent as they got straight down to it, even though the weather was changing every hour, also we appreciated the fact that they were patient with us as we had to re-record some shots as they weren't right. I think the performance of the actors was best of their abilities, this is portrayed in the final product as the actors followed all the dialogue and followed actions which were stated. The crew was also great as they never interrupted the recordings and all the shots were right as the director wanted.
After we finished recording majority of the film we reviewed it and we were amazed by the shots that we had captured in some of the scenes which we had recorded, but however one of the scenes that we had filmed was not in the right lighting or frame, we then consulted with the director and decided that we came to an agreement of not including the shot at all in the film, this meant us not sticking to the original plan.
